Booking Cancellation Policy

Last updated: April 2026

This cancellation policy applies to all direct bookings made with Little Hive Glastonbury. By confirming a booking, the Guest (“you”) agrees to the terms set out below. If you have booked through a third-party platform (e.g. Airbnb, Booking.com), the cancellation terms of that platform will apply instead.

1. Definitions

“Owner” means the owner/operator of Little Hive Glastonbury.

“Guest” means the lead person named on the booking.

“Booking” means the confirmed reservation for a specified period of stay at the Property.

“Deposit” means the non-refundable payment of 25% of the total rental charge, due at the time of booking.

“Balance” means the remaining 75% of the total rental charge, due no later than 8 weeks (56 days) before the start of the stay.

“Property” means Little Hive Glastonbury, the holiday cottage located in central Glastonbury, Somerset.

2. Payment Terms

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total rental charge is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation.

Balance: The remaining balance (75%) is due no later than 8 weeks (56 days) before the commencement of your stay. If the booking is made fewer than 8 weeks before the arrival date, full payment is due at the time of booking.

Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in the booking being treated as cancelled by the Guest, and the cancellation charges below will apply.

3. Cancellation by the Guest

All cancellations must be made in writing (by email or letter). The effective date of cancellation is the date on which written notice is received by the Owner.

Cancellation Charges

Where the Owner is able to re-let the Property for the whole of the cancelled period at the same rate, a refund will be provided less the deposit and a £50 administration fee. If the Property is re-let at a lower rate, the difference between the original booking value and the re-let amount will not be refunded.

4. Cancellation by the Owner

In the unlikely event that the Owner needs to cancel a confirmed booking (for example, due to unforeseen property damage, essential maintenance, or force majeure), all monies paid by the Guest will be refunded in full. The Owner’s liability shall be limited to a full refund of all sums paid and shall not extend to any consequential losses, additional travel costs, or alternative accommodation expenses.

5. Amendments and Transfers

Date changes are subject to availability and at the Owner’s discretion. A £25 amendment fee may apply. Where a date change is not possible, the cancellation charges above will apply.

The Guest may transfer the booking to another person, provided written notice is given to the Owner at least 14 days before the arrival date. The replacement guest must agree to these booking terms. The original Guest remains liable for the rental charge until the transfer is confirmed.

6. Force Majeure

Neither party shall be liable for failure to perform obligations under this booking where such failure results from circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, severe weather events, or acts of war or terrorism.

In such circumstances, the Owner will offer either a full credit towards future dates (valid for 12 months) or a refund of all monies paid, less any irrecoverable costs already incurred.

7. Travel Insurance

The Guest is strongly advised to take out comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance at the time of booking. This should cover the full cost of the rental in the event of cancellation for any reason, including illness, bereavement, travel disruption, and other unforeseen circumstances. The Owner is not responsible for losses arising from cancellation that would have been covered by an appropriate insurance policy.

8. Shortened Stays and No-Shows

No refund will be given if the Guest arrives late, departs early, or fails to arrive (no-show). The full rental charge remains payable regardless of the length of the actual stay.

9. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. This policy is intended to comply with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, and nothing in this policy affects the Guest’s statutory rights.
